Excessive or inappropriate consumption of alcohol is one of the most common and pervasive social problems in our society. It contributes to many accidents, injuries and permanent consequences for health.

Screening of individuals for alcohol consumption is an important method for the identification of individuals who might be at risk due to alcohol intoxication. Screening also provides a deterrent against inappropriate alcohol consumption.

Alcohol concentrations in saliva are directly comparable with those of blood. Therefore, this test is a simple, rapid and reliable method to estimate the blood alcohol level quantitatively.

With this test the presence of alcohol in other liquids can be detected especially useful for persons who absolutely want or have to abstain from alcohol.

• 0.00% - No Alcohol Limit
• 0.02% - Low Alcohol Limit
• 0.05% - May Experience Reduced Muscular Coordination, Longer Reaction Times and Impaired Judgement
• 0.08% - Anything above this is considered legally drunk

Step One

• Provide a Saliva Sample in the plastic cup provided in the kit

Step Two

• Submerge the alcohol test pad in to the saliva sample for 10 seconds making sure the test pad absorbs as much "liquid" from the sample as possible

Step Three

• After 5 minutes, compare the test pad to the colour chart on the foil pouch. With the presence of alcohol the test pad will turn from white to a greenish colour and the amount of alcohol detected will depend on the darkness of test pad. There are four levels of detection from Zero Tolerance to 0.30%
